Microsoft has released new beta technology called Microsoft mobile tagging, it is very cool new technology. You will create your image tag which will redirect anyone using the mobile tagging program through the camera to the URL represented by the image. You can download the program from your mobile browser http://gettag.mobi/

When I found this a while I did the same & tagged my blog but after that I forgot about it completely until I read this post today. The question now how can it become a useful technology not just `cool`? Cool is not an enough attribute for a new technology.

The only offered usage, by Microsoft, is linking publications & advertisements to internet web site and it is really a useful feature but what is next? nothing happened after 6 months yet.

You are correct, but you know I see another technology but all these technologies didn't get spread yet. Next step is to raise the awareness bar for this technology and start use it.

I don't think it is an issue of awareness. It is an issue of finding a need & usage. Here comes a chance for a niche. Let's say you find a way to link it to Twitter or Facebook, for example, in a useful way, this would be a new project. Let's keep thinking we may find it Smile

First, let's determine the media for publishing, audience, providers and then how we can make use of it.

The media for publishing: I guess such tag will be at magazines and flyers.

Audience: Anyone see the tagged magazine or the flyer and have mobile with camera that support navigating in the Internet and affordable to pay the cost.

Providers: Anyone wish to have traffic on his Internet customized website.

Benefit to us: nothing I guess?
